CHINESE
Edison Chinese Club promotes an understanding of the Mandarin Chinese language and Chinese culture. Our goal is to support students in becoming more familiar with Mandarin by facilitating a group of individuals interested in bettering their Mandarin language skills while also participating in events that will foster better understanding of Chinese culture for both club members and the Edison student body at large. Examples of events hosted by the Edison Chinese Club include Confucius Day at OU Norman Campus, Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, T-Shirt Sale, and so on. We welcome anyone interested in Mandarin or Chinese culture to join us.
CLASSICAL MUSIC LISTENING
Each week, students will listen to a piece of music from the vast repertoire of classical music. All high school students are welcome to join, and there are no dues. The only requirement is that all students attending this club must be completely silent while we listen. This will enable everyone to be able to really, really listen to the music. Students may bring their own silent activity to do while we listen (such as reading, writing, drawing, or knitting). Students don’t have to do anything at all…sometimes it’s just nice to be in a quiet space for 30 minutes while we all share the experience of listening to music that has stood the test of time.
Climb Club
The Edison Climb Club will be held every Friday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. starting January 18th and ending May 17th. Club will not be held the week of Spring Break.
The cost for the entire semester is $270 which can be broken into monthly payments of $67.50. The first payment is due by the first club session on January 18th. If student has a membership with Climb Tulsa, a 10% discount will be applied to club price.
If you have any questions for Climb Tulsa you can contact the gym at (918) 430-4400 or contact the Youth Program Director Miranda Wolf at miranda@climbtulsa.com. Other questions can be directed to the Edison club sponsor, Polly Robinson, at 918-629-2126. Register here.
COLOR GUARD
Color Guard is a club for the Edison Screamin’ Eagles color guard members and for any student who may be interested in learning the skills of Marching Band and Winter Color Guard. These skills include flag spinning and tossing, rifle spinning and tossing, as well as basic dance and choreography. Club is open to any students interested in High School or Middle School Color Guard.

- To develop the ability to accept critical evaluations and critique others
Eagle Theatre Company is a program for the serious theatre student. Company interviews are held each year in May. Additionally, if a student is involved in the One Act Play, they are automatically accepted into the company for that year. Company rules and guidelines are on my website.

MU Alpha Theta
Who we are:
Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society, dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.
The Edison Chapter convenes program meetings, takes field trips, and participates in competitions. In Fall 2010 we hosted Miss Anne Gambrel, a University of Tulsa TURC Scholar, who gave a presentation on her research in Physics. In recent years we have taken field trips to Norman to meet with Martin Gardner (longtime author of the Scientific American Mathematical Games column and author of over 70 books on many subjects), and to Stillwater for a presentation by Dr. David Wright (OSU Professor, number theorist, visual explorer of symmetries, and co-author of Indra's Pearls). We have participated in the monthly Oklahoma Math League competitions as well as the annual American Mathematics Competition (AMC).
How to join:
It's easy — all you need is $10, and at least a 3.0 GPA in math subjects through at least geometry. The fee covers you for life. See Ms. Phillips in Room 48 or phillky@tulsaschools.org for details or to sign up!
NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY
Prerequisite: at least one high school visual art class
Dues: $10
Here at Edison, we love to promote the arts while showing off our students amazing talents. NAHS is one way to do that! Join us for engaging service projects and wonderful art experiences that include painting, tie dye, screen printing and much more!
In 1978, the National Art Education Association began the NAHS program to inspire and recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art. The program supports members in their efforts to attain the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.
Native American Student Association
Kendra Culp
High School Sponsor
culpke@tulsaschools.org
Meets in room 176 Wednesdays after school from 3:35 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In NASA, we learn about Native American culture, language and traditions through reading, writing, activities and crafts.
Students do not have to be Native American to join, but it is preferred because we occasionally go on field trip paid for by Indian Education.
National Honor Society
National Honor Society is a great accomplishment and speaks volumes for a students achievement both in the school and the community.
Belonging is no easy task as the student must maintain a 3.4 GPA, belong to two other organizations and perform a minimum of 25 hours of community service. If you like an academic challenge and giving back to your community then this could be the place for you.
Peer Tutoring
ROBOTICS
The Edison Robotics Club participates in the First Robotics FTC (First Tech Challenge) competition. In addition to designing and building a robot to perform a specific set of tasks defined at the beginning of the season -- some autonomously and some under operator control -- team members are expected to raise funds to support the club, set up and perform tech related community service, and document all efforts and activities. Older club members are expected to mentor younger members, and the primary goal of the club is to develop leadership values in all participants.
