Admissions - Magnet Program

Applications for the 2025-26 school year will be accepted from January 11 to February 21, 2025. Applications will be available here.

Parent tours and information meetings will be held from 6 - 7:30 in evening in our Lecture Halls. These meetings are for both middle and high school.

NOTE: Criteria for 2025-2026 have not been finalized. 

GPA:  2.5 cumulative GPA, fall semester of application year plus previous full year. 

Test Scores: TPS will consider students’ highest MAP or OPI scores from the past year. The student must score at or above the 35th percentile in both Reading and Math to qualify.

Attendance: no longer used for admissions 

Teacher Recommendation: no longer used for admissions

Discipline: Suspensions will no longer automatically disqualify students from consideration. All students with suspension will be reviewed by a committee to approve or deny the application to move forward. 

• If an applicant is not a current TPS student, all documentation relating to any suspension record must be submitted for consideration. 
• For all applicants currently enrolled in TPS, suspension information, including details of the incident, will be pulled from Powerschool.

With the wide range of Pre-AP and AP courses offered at Edison High School, students have the flexibility to personalize the Magnet Program to match their academic strengths. Students choose which courses they wish to take in order to fulfill their requirements for the Magnet Program. Students in Edison's Magnet Program must fulfill the following academic requirements by taking a minimum of:

• Freshmen and Sophomores:
  • 3 Pre-AP classes or 1 AP class and 1 Pre-AP class
• Juniors and Seniors:
  • 2 AP classes

During your visit, you'll sit in on a high school class, observe the Fine Arts programs, view all the amazing clubs, and tour our modern athletic facility to learn about 25 different sports programs we offer. Edison Middle School 8th graders do not need to sign up. They will have their own day in December. 

Shadowing is from 8:20 AM - 3:15 PM; students will be provided a pizza lunch but may bring a sack lunch if they prefer. Parents are responsible for transportation.
