Who we are:

Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society, dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject ,and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.

The Edison Chapter convenes program meetings, takes field trips, and participates in competitions. In Fall 2010 we hosted Miss Anne Gambrel, a University of Tulsa TURC Scholar, who gave a presentation on her research in Physics. In recent years we have taken field trips to Norman to meet with Martin Gardner (longtime author of the Scientific American Mathematical Games column and author of over 70 books on many subjects), and to Stillwater for a presentation by Dr. David Wright (OSU Professor, number theorist, visual explorer of symmetries, and co-author of Indra's Pearls). We have participated in the monthly Oklahoma Math League competitions as well as the annual American Mathematics Competition (AMC).

How to join

It's easy — all you need is $5 $10 — price increase effective 2010 — and at least a 3.0 GPA in math subjects through at least Geometry. The fee covers you for life. See Mr. Hammond in Room 51 for details or to sign up!
