Uniform Policy
2012-2013

New items and requirements for 2012-2013 are highlighted below:

TOPS:

­ Polo style knit shirts – (2-4 button placket) solid white, black, forest green, gray; short/long sleeved; must be tucked

­ Oxford (“button-down”) shirts – solid white, black, forest green, gray; short/long sleeved; must be tucked

­ White uniform camp shirt for girls – short/long sleeved

­ Crewneck sweatshirts – solid (plain or with approved Edison insignia) white, forest green, gray or black; a uniform shirt must be worn underneath with the collar visible (PTSA will sell these with Edison insignias at schedule pick-up)

­ Fleece Jacket and/or Fleece Vest – solid forest green, gray or black

­ Undershirts – solid, plain white, gray or black only (must have uniform top on over undershirt); no layering

­ Neckties – school uniform colors; solid or patterned; only worn with oxford shirts

­ Do not layer short sleeved uniform shirts over long-sleeved undershirts

­ Pants/slacks (business casual, “docker”style only) – pleated or flat front; no cargos; khaki or black

­ Shorts – no cargos; khaki or black; must be below finger tips

­ Capris – khaki or black

­ Skirts – pleated only; khaki, black or Edison plaid; must be below finger tips

­ Skorts – khaki, black or Edison plaid; must be below finger tips

 v  No denim material allowed

v  Pants and shorts must be properly fitted.  Waistbands are to be fitted to the waist.  Pants will not be allowed to sag.

v  Pants must not flare at the bottom to an unsafe width

v  No fringed hems, ripped or torn clothing

v  Jean style rivets or jean style top stitching on pockets will not be allowed

v  No skin tight pants allowed

v  Black tops cannot be worn with black bottoms

 BELTS:

­ Should be worn with slacks/shorts

­ Solid black, brown, white, tan, cordovan; plain, braided or woven without decoration

­ Worn through belt loops and not as an accessory

­ Regular belt buckles – no symbols or logos

 SOCKS:

­ Solid/matching; white, black, forest green, gray, khaki/brown; no layering

­ Hosiery/Leggings – white, black, forest green, gray, khaki/brown; can only be worn under uniform bottoms

 SHOES/FOOTWARE:

­ House slippers, flip-flops, and shower shoes are NOT acceptable

­ Matching footwear is to be worn at all times

­ If shoes are open-toed, they must have a heel piece/strap

­ 2” limit on heels

­ Footwear extending beyond the ankle (boots) must be covered by pants; boots cannot be worn with skirts, capris or shorts

 SPIRIT DAY WEAR:

­ “Spirit Days” are scheduled to be one per week, on Fridays

­ Hoodies allowed only on Spirit Days

­ Hoodie Colors – solid forest green, gray, black or pre-approved Edison club or sport affiliated hoodies

 JEWELRY/HAIR ADORNMENTS:

­ Silver/gold or school uniform colors
