Science Exposition Timeline

Oct./Nov./Dec.: Individual science teachers have been explaining the International Science Fair and Inventor’s Exposition ground rules and teaching the Scientific Method and Invention Design to their students.

December _____: Preliminary approval for a project is to be obtained by the student from his/her science teacher. Experiment Data Books, Inventor’s Log Books, and Abstracts (for those students hoping to move on to regional competition) should be started and be maintained through completion of  the project.  The Safety Assessment form should be completed by students and signed by their parents.  Grading rubrics are explained to students.

Oct. _____, Nov. _____Dec. _____, Jan. _____: Library and computer lab times are scheduled so that the report, which accompanies the project, may be done by students.

December _____: By this date, all projects must have final teacher approval and the three-sided display board has been explained to students.

January _____, 2010Projects are due for classroom presentation and individual Sience teachers will grade the projects and select those projects meeting the standards for the building fair.

Jan. 26 - 29t Edison West Science Exposition will be held in the M.S. girls’ gymnasium with the teachers examining all entries into the building fair for meeting the standards of the Tulsa Regional Science Fair.

Wed., Jan. 27: Edison West Science Exposition judging (Building Fair) held in the M.S. girls’ gymnasium. The judging for the competitions will be done by volunteer science professionals who are not associated with our students.  Certification for regional competition is done this day.

Thurs., Jan. 28: Edison West Science Exposition is open for viewing by parents and friends during regular school hours.  Announcement of the building winners, as well as the qualifiers for the Tulsa Regional Science and Engineering Fair, is made this day. 

 Fri., January 29: ALL EXHIBITS ARE TO BE REMOVED FROMTHE GYM BY 1st Hour. 

 February 2010: Tulsa Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Tulsa Community College  (Southeast Campus)
