 Football Game vs Westmoore Jaguars

Our football homecoming is traditionally celebrated in October under Friday night lights. Preparations for homecoming start weeks in advance though.   A homecoming theme is selected by the student council, and classes get to work on their parade floats. Nominations for homecoming queen, junior and sophomore attendants and escorts are made  during English class a few weeks before the game. Votes are cast for the queen as well as her attendants and escorts the week before the game.
On the morning of the game, the homecoming theme is evident during the parade on Dan Crookham Beltway behind the school.  The freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes display their floats to an enthusiastic crowd of students lining the parade path.  Riding in open vehicles, homecoming court and queen nominees are always part of the parade. Judging of the floats is unbiased, but an unnamed source was overheard to say that the senior float always seems to do well.
During the last school period,  students assemble in the field house for a pep rally. Cheering for the Eagles is the main point of the rally, but class pride has a chance to shine too. The 2008 Homecoming was notable for the return of the black-out pep rally that Edison helped pioneer many years ago. The field house underwent a total black-out of windows and lights so that many of the rally activities were conducted with the use of fluorescent glow-in-the-dark materials.
Next in importance to the game is the eagerly anticipated half-time ceremony. The queen nominees and her attendant nominees are escorted onto the field by their fathers. The queen and two attendants from the senior, junior and sophomore classes are announced, and the royal escorts join them on the field where they begin their reign over all things green and white.
