Roles and Responsibilities for Administering or Proctoring an Advanced Placement Examination

If your student or one that is related to you is participating in an AP exam, you may NOT administer or proctor for the same exam.
There will be a brief volunteer meeting once the AP schedule has been completed.
For specific directions for a particular subject. You may access the link below and select on that exam. The general instructions that you will read are virtually identical for all examinations.

Basic Instructions:
Prior to the examination:
- Make sure that you have confirmed the date, time, and location of the exam
- Show up 15 minutes prior to the exam time
- Review the instructions prior to reading
- Silence your cell phone and any other device that may make noise
- Sign in as a volunteer with the receptionist
During the exam administration:
- Assist in preparing the testing room
- Assist with assigning students to their designated seats
- Distribute testing materials. Students are the only ones authorized to open the exams which includes the shrink-wrapped packaging
- Supervise the testing room
- Supply pens, pencils, calculators (when appropriate), extra paper (as necessary) only if needed. All supplies will be provided and housed in the Testing Box
- Walk around the room to ensure students are working on the correct exam section
- Guard against attempts at cheating
- Keep the room attended at all times
- Never read, eat, drink, engage in conversation, correct papers, or perform any activity not related to the administration
- Ensure that the proper seating distance is maintained between students
- Read instructions as prescribed by the AP manual
- Keep and adhere to the timing requirements
After the exam administration:
- Collect and account for all exam materials
- Dismiss students
- Make sure no exam materials are taken from the exam room by students
- Place testing materials back into the Testing Box
- Return exam materials to Ms. Stacy
